The TED Reset is a niche procedure that Dr. Ramesh has honed after many years of taking care of thyroid eye disease (TED) patients. Dr. Ramesh will analyze your TED-related and aging-related changes from the neck up, compare with your old photographs (both in 20s-30s and prior to TED), and tailor a bespoke surgical plan to restore your function and appearance as closely as possible to your prior self.
What is the TED Reset?
An example of TED Reset in a patient who underwent orbital decompression, upper and lower blepharoplasty, fat grafting, brow lifting, and chin implant placement.
Who needs a TED Reset?
Anyone who has suffered from Graves’, Hashimoto’s, or TED can potentially benefit from a TED Reset. Dr. Ramesh particularly enjoys helping patients who were told their disease was “too mild” or “did not need” surgery, as well as patients who have previously undergone surgery with older techniques that did not achieve the best results. If you do not feel that you look like yourself prior to the start of TED, you could be a candidate for the TED Reset.

What procedures are commonly done in the TED Reset?
A TED Reset is customized to each person’s unique anatomy and TED-related changes. Most patients need a minimally invasive orbital decompression, or eye recession, to address the root of the change in appearance. Other TED-related changes that should be addressed include eyelid retraction, ptosis, or periorbital fat growth. Aging changes can also be improved with procedures such as blepharoplasty, brow lifting, fat grafting, buccal fat removal, laser resurfacing of the skin, face and neck lifting, or facial implant placement. Not every patient needs every procedure, but it is important to consider all facial changes when creating a surgical plan, to ensure a harmonious and natural result.
What are Dr Ramesh’s training and qualifications?
Dr. Ramesh is uniquely qualified to perform the TED Reset. He completed his oculoplastic and facial plastic training at the University of California, Los Angeles, before starting his private practice in New Jersey. He is a board-certified Oculofacial Plastic Surgeon and a member in good standing of both the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, the premiere societies in the United States.
Dr. Ramesh performs roughly 100-150 TED Reset procedures yearly in patients with both long-standing and recent-onset TED. He also performs many cosmetic decompression surgeries for patients who have a congenital prominent eye without any Graves’ disease. You can peruse our gallery to see our extensive collection of before and after pictures.

How long is recovery after the TED reset?
You will be swollen, bruised, and discolored for roughly 2 weeks. Your social downtime will be for 2 weeks, after which you can return to your normal activities without anyone realizing you have had surgery. Your full healing will take 10-12 weeks. You can visit our Recovery from Orbital Surgery page (link) for more detailed information.
Can patients travel to Dr. Ramesh’s office for the TED Reset?
We do take care of many local, national, and international patients with this niche procedure. Dr. Ramesh’s office and the surgery center are very close to each other, and there are several hotels next to the surgery center. Typically, patients will have a virtual consultation with Dr. Ramesh first. Once they pick a surgery date, they can fly in on a Monday and meet with Dr. Ramesh in person, have surgery on Tuesday, be seen for the first post-operative visit on Wednesday, and be cleared to fly out thereafter. It is helpful to have a friend or family member accompany you for the trip.
